— only, he wasn’t, really: she just mistook messages from one of the new AI chatbots for a fling while snooping his phone and lost her shit (probably aided by the daily doses of various drugs she consumed on the sly)
— and even though she is currently screaming obscenities at him while police shove her into the back of their squad car, Jeremey doesn’t really hear her because all he can think about is how his dog loved him unconditionally and was the first creature in his life who ever loved him that way, and he didn’t even realize it until now
